TikTok is reportedly testing an AI-powered chatbot called Tako within the app. The chatbot will be able to answer user questions, provide recommendations, and interact with users in a conversational manner using natural language processing technology. The feature is currently being tested with a small group of users in select markets. This move follows other social media platforms, such as Snapchat, who have also introduced chatbots to their platforms. However, the success of TikTok’s Tako will depend on whether it can offer a unique and engaging experience for users.

TikTok believes that the chatbot can also help users search content, further threatening Google’s Search. TikTok is already surpassing Google as the top Search engine for younger demographics.
