Twitter has dived into the world of podcasts as part of its newly designed Spaces tab. This tab introduces personalized hubs for users called “Stations” that group content together based on different topics, such as news, music, sports and more. The platform will recommend you content based on the themes and users that you follow. These hubs will feature popular global podcasts that you can thumbs up or down to let Twitter know if the content is interesting to you.
According to internal research, 45% of Twitter users listen to podcasts monthly. Adding podcasts is part of Twitters plan to provide its users with an “all-in-one, personalized audio destination” by giving users even more audio content to listen to.
This move comes shortly after Facebook shut down their podcast service in order to prioritize short-video formats. Twitter already has controversy surrounding its podcasts, as a whistleblower revealed that Spaces content isn’t being properly moderated
