Just this summer, Google admitted that TikTok was eating into their core Search business, especially with younger users. Now, TikTok is on the rise as a source of news for American users. A new Pew Research study has found that 33% of TikTok users say they regularly get their news on the app, up from 22% in 2020.
Meanwhile, almost all the other TikTok competitors has seen a drop in news, Facebook seeing the most notable drop from 54% to 44%.
The continued growth of TikTok and its progress of becoming a news source can be alarming given the apps connection to China.
