Toyota has announced plans to establish a new electric vehicle (EV) battery research and development facility in the United States, Michigan.
The Japanese automaker will spend $48 million on the lab and is expected to begin operating in 2025. The facility is meant to help accelerate Toyota’s EV battery development, as the company aims to create an electric counterpart to its entire lineup by 2025. Globally, Toyota plans to invest more than $70 billion in vehicle electrification by 2030.
