The new MLB labor contract agreed to in March allows teams to add uniform and helmet advertising patches. The San Diego Padres in April became the first team to announce a deal for 2023, with Motorola.

Back in 2007, MLS became the first major North American league to allow jersey ads.  The NBA followed in the 2017-218 season with sponsorship logos, Just last season, NHL launched helmet and jersey ads
