2022’s Consumer Electronic Show (CES) agenda is loaded with EV presentations from all the top auto brands. These include: General Motors, BMW, Hyundai, Stellantis and Daimler. Mercedes Benz recently revealed a sporty Vision EQXX concept car focused on long-range travel, while General Motors’ Chevrolet brand plans to showcase an electric iteration of its Silverado pickup Wednesday.
EV marketing is predicted to become very aggressive in 2022 as consumer excitement for it has tripled since 2018. A report from September has found that almost two-thirds of consumers now describe themselves as “sustainability-minded drivers,” making environmental considerations a primary concern. Among the sustainability-minded driver group, the survey identified, 30% were willing to pay between 1%-5% more for a more sustainable vehicle, while more than 60% were willing to pay at least 6% more.
With the market turning more and more towards EV, legacy brands have an opportunity to close the gap and even take the lead form disruptors like Tesla.
